Honeymoon Day 1 - Taichung 台中

Set off for our honeymoon trip a day after our wedding!

I regretted getting a midnight flight(because I want to reach Taiwan early).
We bought some finger food from Texas chicken and sat there and wait for our flight.

The wait is torturing as the both of us were mad tired.
We fell asleep right after the take off.

As soon as we reached Taoyuan airport, we went straight to the bus terminal.
Took the Ubus 705 (NT30) to the High Speed Rail (HSR) station.
The journey is about 20 mins.

Once we reached the HSR station, we headed to 7-11 to get some food.
(Fun facts : Locals called 7-11 "Seven")

HSR station photo taken by P's Note2.

Heard so much about the oden, so I decided to give it a try.
The staff working there is SO FRIENDLY!!!
She chatted with us and started to introduce us around the shop.

P bought coffee with tuna onigiri while I bought a sandwich with pudding milk tea.

Everyone knows I'm a fan of My Melody.
And the 7-11 in Taiwan is having a My Melody x Little Twin Star cup collections.
P purposely bought a lot of things from 7-11 to gather the stickers.

After that we went to get tickets for the HSR.
Taoyuan --> Taichung (NT590)

The HSR took about 40mins to reach Taichung.
When we were at Taichung HSR station, we took a free bus to Feng Jia Night Market (逢甲夜市)

The bus is at bus platform 12.
You do not have to purchase any ticket, all you have to do is to show the driver your HSR ticket.

Alternatively you can take a cab which will cost about NT350.

Once we reached the bus stop, we asked around for direction to our minsu.
We have chosen Eiffel Tower Minsu for our 3D2N stay in Taichung.

Read minsu review here : Eiffel Tower

As we reached the place at about 9.30am, there is nothing to do.
Not a single shop is open and the street is very quiet.

We couldn't check in and there is nothing for us to do.
So we decided to explore the surrounding with the help of the mini map given to us from the minsu staff.

Thankfully we were able to leave our luggage with them.

We planned to get the Taiwan Mobile (台湾大哥大) plan so we can use internet and GPS.
But the shop refused to open before noon.

We sat inside the Family Mart to kill some time and wait for the shop to open.

They allow pets in their stores!

We got really bored after awhile and decided to go to Feng Jia University to explore.

We managed to waste a bit of time and we saw a lot of students walking out for their break.
So we followed the crowd and found a street that has opened for business.

But instead of eating the street food, I opted to eat the oden from 7-11 again!
LOL! Addicted already.

When it is about noon, we took a public bus as instructed by our minsu staff to go to Yi Zhong street.
Address : 台中市北區一中街

I heard it is like our Bugis Street but a lot bigger. (Duh)
I fell asleep and when I woke up, we noticed we missed the stop already. LOL.
We ended taking a cab there. *laughs* Should have done so earlier.

一中8兩碳烤雞排

Our first stop, fried + grilled chicken!

The chicken chop is big.
I find it a bit dry but P love it!

The cheese potato!
The cheese potato in Taichung is a bit different from Taipei.
In Taichung the potato is baked whereas in Taipei the potato is fried.

I find the baked one more yums!(:

Big cup of watermelon juice for only NT20. :')

Found a nice place to sit down and chill.

We found this small stall tucked in between shop houses that are still under renovations.
The signboard says :"Everything for NT10 each"
The queue is moderate but considered long during that hour on a weekday.

This is what we chose.
Egg, big and small intestine, radish, golden mushroom and capsicum.
We also took 3 mini sausages.

But the total amount is NT180. Cheater lol where got 18 items?

Arghh so cute! The only loots from Yi Zhong Street.
A bit overpriced because we saw cheaper one at feng jia~

Verdict : Not really a must visit place. But if you have the time, then why not?

We cab back to our minsu at about 3pm plus and the room is still not ready.
They really waited till 4pm sharp before giving the room to us.
So we sat at the "lobby" area to wait for a good 40mins.

Si bei geh gao -.-
The staffs are very ai mai also, keep checking their phones and will just reply you "orh".
The service part can be improved.

So after we unpacked our stuffs, we waited until 5pm before heading to Feng Jia Night market.

First stop : Oysterrrrrr

11 oysters for NT150! (SGD 6.40)
Each only for 60 cents!
Walaoooooooo damn shiok!

Fried cuttlefish! We bought the medium sized one for NT150.
The cuttlefish is always so good yet expensive.

Lazy prawn! Mega cheap at 10 for NT50.
It's only 20cents each!!!

This lala is the BEST! It is also the cheapest! NT100
Regretted not having a lot of it. :x

Scallops! We thought it will be good, but NOPE.
Big mistake.
3 for NT100.

Japanese flavor. Eww.

Seaweed flavor. Still ew.

Sweet and sour sauce. Even ew-er.
Please eat the plain one. I bet it will be the nicest.

Always wanted to try this! NT40
The packaging looks too cool! But it tasted mega diluted, not nice one. ):

The best strawberry ever. Like ever. (NT60)
Fruits are rather expensive in Taiwan.

This beef is awesome!
It's a pity we don't get to choose the done-ness.

And 2 L cup of KOI to end the day!
Woohoo!
